FINDING YOUR TRUTH

When you’ve grown up feeling different than the norm, or in a family which was “less than ideal,” it can be a struggle to live authentically with ease. On the inside, in ways that others may not realize, you may privately deal with intense feelings of anxiety, depression, or difficulties standing up for yourself or holding on to what is important to you.

Perhaps you’re seeing the past play out in your relationships or in self-sabotage. Or you want to make sure you don’t repeat patterns that have hurt before, so can thrive not just survive.

Therapy supports you to address unconscious feelings from the past and reclaim your power. Together we can support you to access your embodied wisdom and innate healing capacity.

Working together, we can support you in facing what is hard to face, and addressing anxiety, depression, somatic symptoms, and longstanding repetitive emotional patterns, through a unique mind-body approach that has been highly effective for challenging situations.

If you’re ready to live a more empowered life, or want to get through these times more empowered, and do the healing work, let’s connect.

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES

Are you having challenges communicating with your mother? With your partner? Your boss? Or your children? Maybe you notice that you are avoiding them in order to not get upset. Maybe it is just a lot of stress. Somehow, it isn’t easy to stand up or for you to navigate your reactions.

Maybe you have held in so much that the feelings come out too intensely. Or you find yourself reacting in ways that you rather you did not. Or you shut down and go along.

When there are wounds from the past, whether because speaking up was not rewarded or accepted in your family - whether due to cultural differences - or because it was met with rage or ignored - it can lead to patterns of coping that get in way of more fulfilling personal and professional relationships.

Let’s work together to build the trust and strength of your own voice, center, and ability to have fulfilling relationships without sacrificing yourself.

SOMATIC SYMPTOMS

Do you have anxiety that can show up as physical symptoms in your body? Are you wanting to address the emotional connection between your physical and mental health?

I work with you to address the following issues

Physical tension / pain
Stomachaches
Headaches or Migraines
Dizziyness
Mental Fog
Visual Disturbances
Fatigue
Insomnia

Surreal dreamy states
Scattered thinking - Inability to Focus
Oubursts of Frustration
Exhausted types of crying

Sudden unexplained physical symptoms

These stress related symptoms can have a psychological component.

Recent research shows that these symptoms of emotional dysregulation can relate to early childhood trauma or stressors.

I have studied leading mind body therapies to work through “pathways of body anxiety”, including training with faculty at the Center for Emotions and Health in Halifax, Canada, in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. This experiential approach can often lead to more direct resolution of core emotions and understanding of unconscious mechanisms.

I have also studied cross-cultural understandings of how to work with “somaticization” which has been shown to be a culturally-influenced way that emotional responses can be expressed. Many times, certain environments in which feelings were not safe to feel can lead to ways of coping, in which feelings show up in other ways.

I also bring 20 years experience as a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner working with clients with chronic pain, and prior work in somatic trauma therapies involving theories on how disruptions in early attachments impact the physiological systems of the body, drawing from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing.
